We would like to welcome you to stay in our converted rambling farmhouse in the little hamlet of Le Verdier and soak up the sun whilst relaxing by the pool or take a bike ride through the sunflowers, whatever you choose to do we are sure you'll have a relaxing family holiday.
Le Verdier is a little Hamlet on the Border of the Charente and Dordogne. We are close to local Wine producing Towns and Cities including Bordeaux, Cognac and St-Emilion. Being only minutes away from river beaches and French markets you can see why we came to live here.
Over view what you might want to know...
The house is in fact three restored 19th century farmers cottages, a converted integral barn wine press room, cellar ("cave") all now joined to give one huge living space. The interiors are simple but stylish. A traditional stone walled living room, a huge fireplace with wood burning stove, lots of beams and beautiful wooden furniture. We chose tiles that are cool in summer with underfloor heating in winter. Mod cons such as satellite and internet access give you all the comforts of home, without forgetting you are in a farmhouse in France. Within the living room you have a pool/Table Tennis, music station with i-pod docking and TV area close to the large wood burning stove making this a real family space.
A high quality Family kitchen, a separate dining room, with open fire and antique furniture makes it perfect for entertaining and, of course, being here means you count the days in the summer when you cannot dine outside! Tranquil bedrooms are decorated in French country colours and have good size beds, ample storage space and dressing table with mirror in most rooms . The bathrooms are quirky and the master ensuite has a huge shower and roll top bath. Towels including Pool towels are provided for every guest.
The pool is all important where families are concerned. It is where the children want to spend most of the day, especially when young ones have there own paddling pool. Whilst splashing and learning to swim you will find it hard to get them out. A huge stone BBQ has the pool on one side and a summer lounge on the other. Comfortable teak table, chairs and loungers, can be used in both sunny and shaded areas of the terrace which is surrounded by lavender.
For the children there is an enclosed area with climbing frame and huge sand pit with buckets, spades, diggers and more....and if they still have enough energy at the end of the day, the garden, which seems to disappear into the countryside, is big enough for a game of football and, there are plenty of places for hide and seek.
If it gets too hot there are indoor toys, games, dvds, and books. There are also plenty of local places to visit and things to do for all ages.
